German tabloid BILD has given short shrift to the reports emanating from Spain that Manchester United might beat FC Barcelona to the signature of Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels. The newspaper comments:
"If a Spanish sports newspaper reports first on the transfer of a Germany international to an English club, a certain scepticism is entirely appropriate."
... og så er det sagt! Jérémy Mathieu ender ret nok i FC Barcelona.
Chelsea may be favourites with the bookies to sign France winger Antoine Griezmann from Real Sociedad this summer, but the Daily Telegraph reports tonight that Tottenham are ready to bid the full £25million buy-out clause for the 23-year-old. AS Monaco have also been linked with Griezmann, and will have even more money to spend when James Rodríguez completes his move to Real Madrid.
Spain Under-21 midfielder Sergi Roberto looks set to stay at FC Barcelona. The 22-year-old had been linked with Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham as he only has one year remaining on his current Camp Nou contract.
La Liga champions Atlético Madrid have now confirmed on their website that Tiago Mendes is staying at the club for two more seasons. As reported earlier, the 33-year-old had been strongly linked with a return to Chelsea but has been persuaded to remain in the Spanish capital.
Valencia have announced that they have terminated the contract of Portugal centre-back Ricardo Costa by mutual consent. The 33-year-old, a member of his country's World Cup squad, joined the La Liga club from Wolfsburg in 2010.
Poland defensive midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak has passed his medical at Sevilla and the 24-year-old will now be able to seal his move from Reims on a four-year deal.
Arsenal have allowed Brazilian winger Wellington Silva to link up with Spanish side Almería on a season-long loan.
Manchester United have allowed experienced full-back Patrice Evra to leave for Serie A champions Juventus. Evra moves on after eight-and-a-half years at Old Trafford.
La Liga new boys Córdoba have completed the loan signing of Brazilian winger Ryder Matos from Fiorentina. The 21-year-old has spent the last six years in Italy, progressing through Fiorentina’s academy system.
Xavi Hernández to stay at Barça until at least June 2015
Xavi to stay at Barça - Until January at least
Sky sources understand Liverpool are in talks to sign Atlético Madrid defender Javier Manquillo on loan.
With James Rodríguez having joined Real Madrid, AS Monaco have compiled a list of potential replacements. According to L'Equipe, Galatasaray’s Wesley Sneijder, Real Sociedad’s Antoine Greizmann and Bayern Munich’s Xherdan Shaqiri could be targets. Monaco have reportedly already held talks with Sociedad about a deal for France international Greizmann, who has also been linked with Tottenham.
Arsenal will make a bid for Manchester City defender Matija Nastasic if Thomas Vermaelen leaves the club this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
Juventus could be back in the market for a striker after new signing Álvaro Morata suffered a knee injury in training which will keep him out for 50 days. Juventus have now added Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku and former Blues forward Samuel Eto'o back on to their shopping list. Manchester City defender Matija Nastasic has also been linked with a move to the Italian champions.
Chelsea teenager Mario Pasalic has joined La Liga side Elche on a season-long loan deal. The 19-year-old midfielder only joined Chelsea earlier this month from Hajduk Split but has immediately been sent out on loan, with José Mourinho keen for Pasalic to gain first-team experience.
Manchester United are ready to step up their bid to sign Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal, according to Tuttosport. The Premier League club are prepared to offer €50million (£39.5m) for the Chile international and will propose a salary of €6m (£4.7m) per season for Vidal.
Liverpool look set to beat Arsenal to the signing of Atlético Madrid right-back Javier Manquillo, according to reports in Spain. Arsenal had reportedly been trying to sign Manquillo on loan, but were unable to agree a deal with Atlético. Liverpool have now stepped in and are closing in on a deal to sign the 20-year-old, who has also been linked with Marseille and Rayo Vallecano, on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal.
Divock Origi's father has confirmed that Liverpool are firm favourites to land the Belgian and he hopes his future will be resolved by Monday.
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Antoine Griezmann in many of today’s papers and the Daily Mirror writes that they have made a stunning £20million bid for the France World Cup star. Real Sociedad winger Griezmann has reportedly been identified as Spurs’ next big target, although they are likely to face competition from AS Monaco. The 23-year-old, who has a £24million buy-out clause, is also believed to be on the radar of Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
On the subject of Manchester City, various reports suggest that Javi García is set to be offloaded because of Álvaro Negredo’s injury. It is said that City were looking to sell either García or Negredo because Eliaquim Mangala’s imminent £32milion arrival from FC Porto will take them over their foreign player quota. Napoli have been linked with the midfielder and City are reportedly prepared to let him go either permanently or on loan.
Barcelona signer Mathieu
"Rosich explained to Judge Pablo Ruz that the Neymar transfer deal could have exceeded €100 million but, thanks to the efforts of charismatic former president Rosell, Barça managed to sign the player for 'only' €57 million.
Barça's lawyer referred to both the "great powers of persuasion" the former 'Culé' president possesses, as well as the Brazilian player's strong desire to play for the club."

Og man kunne fortsætte her:
According to Felipe Izquierdo, the lawyer representing the Barça member who got the ball rolling on the legal proceedings by filing a lawsuit against the club, Rosell surprised everyone with his words in court. "I don't read the small print in contracts, I just signed everything. I trusted the club's legal department completely", he is alleged to have said. The Catalan businessman is also believed to have refused to answer when asked why Barcelona had coughed up €13.5 million to the Spanish tax authorities after the investigation was opened.

FC Barcelona have confirmed that a deal has been struck to bring in defender Jérémy Mathieu from Valencia.
“FC Barcelona and València CF have reached agreement for the transfer of the French player, Jérémy Mathieu. Jérémy Mathieu will sign a contract with FC Barcelona for the next four seasons, plus an optional season more. The cost of the transfer is 20 million Euros and the buyout clause will be 50 million Euros.
Mathieu is a physically imposing defender who can play in various positions at the back. He’s 1.92 m tall, has excellent positional sense and is skilful with the ball at his feet. And he is also impressively strong in the air. Until recently, he was considered a natural left-back, but of late he has tended to feature more regularly in the centre of defence.”
It's official. Barcelona and Valencia have struck a deal for Jeremy Mathieu. The Frenchman will sign a four-year deal - plus an optional fifth - with the Catalan giants. Barça have agreed a €20m transfer fee for the defender, whose new contract will include a €50m buy-out clause.

Onsdagens rygter:
Juventus have announced that Roberto Pereyra has undergone a medical with the club this morning. Confirmation of the transfer is expected later, as well as details of the deal, which will take the versatile 23-year-old from Udinese to Turin.
Toulouse defender Serge Aurier is having a medical with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain ahead of a transfer believed to be in the region of £8million.
Serge Aurier looked set for a move to the Premier League earlier in the summer but now he is on the verge of joining Paris Saint-Germain from Toulouse, according to L’Equipe. A €9milion transfer is reportedly close to being finalised, with Christophe Jallet expected to complete a switch to Lyon to pave the way for his arrival.

Having sold James Rodríguez to Real Madrid, there is a chance that AS Monaco could be about to sign another Colombian. La Gazzetta dello Sport says that they are keen on Inter midfielder Fredy Guarín, although the two clubs are some way apart in their valuation as Monaco don’t want to offer more than €15million and the Italians are holding out for around €18m.
Juventus are on the lookout for new players once again after Álvaro Morata suffered a knee injury in training just a couple of days after signing from Real Madrid. Romelu Lukaku is understood to be a target, although Chelsea reportedly want €40million and Juve would prefer a loan deal. A number of other names have also been mentioned in La Gazzetta dello Sport, including Manchester United winger Nani, Xherdan Shaqiri of Bayern Munich and Southampton playmaker Gastón Ramírez.
Tottenham are being handed the chance to sign talented Shakhtar Donetsk forward Douglas Costa because of the crisis in Ukraine.
